NO MORE COUNCIL MERGERS

1 Aug 2017

The decision to halt Council amalgamations in Sydney is an opportunity foregone to see cost savings and a more sensible attitude to redevelopment. Most people could not care less about their council, unless something affects their property. This is evidenced by the fact that in non-compulsory voting days it was not unusual to see a turnout of less than 20%. There are, however, a small group in each council that have been very noisy. They include councillors, staff and those who think they have a special relationship. They, unfortunately, have won the day.
